Spider-Man Tom Holland to star in Uncharted adaptation

In an out of development for nearly a decade now, a movie based on the Uncharted video game series is once again supposedly happening. And, just in case the franchise wasn’t already indebted enough to Indiana Jones, now Sony is going the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles/opening of Last Crusade route with this thing.

According to Deadline, the studio has set Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland to play treasure hunter Nathan Drake in their Uncharted movie. As the 20-year-old Peter Parker’s boyish looks imply, the film is now being re-conceived as a prequel series inspired by the flashbacks in Uncharted 3 (see below). Vacuously adept director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Real Steel, The Internship) is helming this renovated take. Between the Uncharted movie and the new Tomb Raider reboot, what a great time to be alive for video game adventurer movies to almost certainly not quite succeed at any level!
