Matt Smith is returning to a galaxy where fans care far, far too fucking much. According to Variety, the former Doctor Who star has signed on to join the latest Star Wars saga entry. It’s not yet clear if he’s fighting for the light or the dark, but it’s said he’ll be alongside fellow newcomers Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Dominic Monaghan, and Naomi Ackie in “a key role.” Smith nabs the part after an Emmy-nominated performance in The Crown, that other classic about an imperialist empire and its pallid leaders and ridiculously costumed guards.
And yes, we know he’s “The Doctor” rather than “Doctor Who,” you dork.
