After getting briefly sidetracked taking Ryan Gosling to the moon, La La Land writer-director Damien Shazelle has returned to a story of making it in the biz in Los Angeles. Take a look: it’s the trailer for Babylon!
Set in the ‘20s, the film takes a look at old Hollywood amidst the sea change of silent films shifting to talkies. It’s also been described as “The Great Gatsby on steroids”—and that certainly comes through in this first preview.
Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, Jean Smart, Lukas Haas, and a ghoulish-looking Tobey Maguire star in this tale of a changing movie-making landscape. Can’t wait for the legacy sequel about the move from actual films to Disney-owned intellectual property content!
But we’ll save that for 2122. In the meantime, see Babylon in theaters this Christmas Day.
