Tim Burton’s Wednesday Addams series is headed to Netflix, and it sounds very misguided

It’s hard to imagine a filmmaker and a property lining up better than Tim Burton and The Addams Family. So why does the Wednesday Addams series he’s directing sound so terribly off?

Netflix reportedly just picked up the previously reported spinoff and have released key art and a synopsis. Here’s what we’re looking at:

It’s said the series is “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. That’s where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”

Finally, Wednesday will be a psychic and abruptly concerned about violent crime. AS CHARLES ADDAMS ALWAYS INTENDED. May she also write fond letters to Pugsley while he’s off using his telekinesis at seminary school.
