His star continuing to rise, actor-comedian Jerrod Carmichael now has his first feature directing effort with On the Count of Three. It’s a comedy about depressed friends agreeing to kill each other after a final-day last hurrah, with a script from The Carmichael Show and Ramy co-creator Ari Katcher and his Ramy co-creator Ryan Welch, and starring Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, Henry Winkler, Tiffany Haddish, J. B. Smoove, and Lavell Crawford. If you’re comfortable with suicidal ideation for dark laughs, could be a good one! If not, probably don’t watch the mutual suicide movie.
With solid reviews from its Sundance debut and a runtime of a cool 84 minutes, there’s otherwise no reason not to see this when it hits both theaters and digital May 13.
