Let’s just get this out of the way: this is not the remake of 1986’s Short Circuit that’s been kicked around for over a decade. Rest assured, that film’s legacy remains only besmirched by Fisher Stevens’ brown-face, Short Circuit 2, and also never being very good to begin with.
THIS Short Circuit is more Disney proper’s take on Pixar’s SparkShorts, an outlet for their animators to go a bit riskier than the studio traditionally allows. This trailer for the series calls it “an experimental short film collection,” but the “experimental” bit is clearly relative here. It mostly looks pretty on-brand for Disney but with a few unexpected flourishes that look pretty fun; perfect for getting your little one on the path to watching the really fucked up experimental stuff as a stoned teen.
