Futurama creator Matt Groening is making us another nerdy genre cartoon. Groening, whose Simpsons remains on the air no matter how vocally you insist you stopped watching it years ago, has made a deal with Netflix for 20 episodes of a new animated fantasy-comedy. Titled Disenchantment, the series will reportedly feature Broad City‘s Abbi Jacobson as Bean, a hard-drinking princess in a crumbling medieval kingdom. Eric Andre will play Bean’s personal demon, Luci, and Nat Faxon will voice a feisty elf named Elfo. The rest of the cast is filled out with Futurama standbys John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, and David Herman, along with UK comedy ringers Matt Berry, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.
“Ultimately, Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you,” Groening said in a statement. My “live, laugh, love, ignore wizards” tattoo has never been more relevant!
The first ten episodes are expected to debut next year.
