Barbie is also getting an origin story with Dream Doll

Though Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach already have a Barbie movie in the works, that iconic doll shaped loosely like a woman is headed to screens in another form too.

According to Variety, Bron Studios, Rita Wilson, and Rare Bird Films are teaming up for Dream Doll, a film about Barbie creator Ruth Handler. Handler’s husband Elliot founded Mattel with friend Harold Matson initially as a picture frame company before finding that they made more money selling doll furniture. Matson’s health soon drove him out and Ruth would take over as co-owner and president, teaming with designer Jack Ryan to create what would become the definitive tiny lady effigy of several generations.

It could make for an interesting biopic; but shame that now someone probably needs to come up with a new title for their documentary about a man marrying his sex mannequin.
