Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis trailer: Head to Graceland via a TV movie and Forrest Gump

After a nine-year absence since The Great Gatsby, Baz Luhrmann has returned with Elvis. It’s a movie about Elvis. Here’s the trailer.

The ever-vogueing Austin Butler stars in the title role, looking like a stripper who goes by the moniker “Jailhouse Cock.” Tom Hanks co-stars, doing a little accent as Colonel Tom Parker—while reprising his Forrest Gump role of being adjacent to the invention of hip thrusts.

There are definitely a few nice shots in this first look, but honestly, the thing reeks of being straight-to-television. So it’s a shock that Warner is dropping this not on HBO Max; it hits theaters June 24.
