Beauty and the Beast spin-off to provide Josh Gad another series

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney+ is in development on a prequel spin-off to 2017’s Beauty and the Beast that would focus on Gaston, LeFou, and how they got to whatever they had going there. The six-episode musical already has Luke Evans and Gad set to reprise their parts, with Gad also playing co-showrunner, co-writer, co-creator, and executive producer. Once Upon a Time creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are attached to share in those duties. Alan Menken is in talks to again provide songs.

After the much-touted “exclusively gay moment” of Beauty that turned out to just be Fou briefly dance with a man, this thing should go real gay to make up for that. Like, what if LeFou’s love was unrequited because he and Gaston already had a very sexual thing, and the bisexual Gaston just doesn’t want to get back together after their breakup? Or, you know, just stick to the normalcy of a person falling in love with some kind of bison monster. Who cares.
