The Sofia Coppola/Bill Murray/Rashida Jones choir of A Very Murray Christmas is back together for an encore in Coppola’s latest, On the Rocks.
Returning the writer-director to familiar themes of strained marriage and father-daughter relationships, the comedy sees Jones as a woman struggling with husband Marlon Wayans’ frequent business trips. Philandering dad Bill Murray suggests they’re more “business trips,” sending the two into a madcap adventure tailing Wayans across New York City. It’s like an episode of Cheaters, but more convincingly acted.
While On the Rocks is an A24 production, for better or worse, it’s headed straight to Apple TV+ this October.
