Black Panther: Wakanda Forever teaser: This just might be alright

The first teaser for Black Panther sequel Wakanda Forever is here—and it’s a helluva teaser. At least by Marvel standards.

It’s got a powerful soundtrack, leans into the emotional loss of Chadwick Boseman, only gives glimpses of Namor and the new Black Panther—whoever that may be—and, perhaps most impressively, it more or less looks like a real movie. At least at first blush, this has less of that MCU quality of looking like a ‘90s computer, a uniformly-bland ecru and quickly looking worse with age.

But the best part of this teaser? It reveals that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is going to beat Avatar: The Way of Water in getting indigenous-inspired underwater blue people to the screen. If only you’d had more time to get this done, James Cameron!

Anyway, we’ll see whether the rest of the film can hold up to this standard—plus, find out whose ass is in that costume—when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters July 25.
