Still punching above his weight even in weightlessness, Adam Sandler will be married to Carey Mulligan in his upcoming Spaceman.
According to Deadline, Mulligan has signed on to play the wife of Sandler’s astronaut in the Netflix project, previously announced as Spaceman of Bohemia.
Based on Jaroslav Kalfař’s 2017 sci-fi novel, the story has been described as “Solaris with laughs”—though with Happy Madison Productions uninvolved, likely not the usual Sandler “laughs.” Sandler will play a man sent on a solo mission to investigate a mysterious cloud of intergalactic dust near Venus, where he reflects on his past, loses his wife (ut oh, Carey!), and ends up meeting a spider being from the beginning of time. Chernobyl helmer Johan Renck is directing this meeting of intergalactic primordial arachnid and the guy from Hubie Halloween.
