The only movie that changes its lead more often than it its studio, the long-planned third Fletch has taken on its latest new identity.
Following in the likes of Ben Affleck, Ryan Reynolds, Jason Lee, Zach Braff, Joshua Jackson, and Jason Sudeikis, Jon Hamm is now attached to star as I.M. “Fletch” Fletcher in Miramax’s modern-day reboot of the two-film Chevy Chase franchise.
Superbad and Paul director Greg Mottola, who previously worked with Hamm on critical and commercial miss Keeping Up with the Joneses, is attached to direct from a script from Chuck writer Zev Borow.
Based on Gregory Mcdonald’s second series novel—Confess, Fletch—the story reportedly sees Fletch in the midst of several murders, trying to exonerate himself from one while also locating his fiancée’s stolen art collection.
Should the latest attempt fall through like so many before it, keep in mind we still haven’t pretended Paul Rudd would be in this.
