Nearly two months since the reveal of Margot Robbie’s titular character in Barbie, Warner Bros. has given us a first look at Ryan Gosling’s Ken. And that sure is something, huh?
As has already been pointed out, this is basically Earring Magic Ken—a bestselling 1993 Ken doll that at the time grew criticism for looking so over-the-top gay. But where that Ken’s magic failed him in was in the underwear department.
Gosling Magic Ken does not have any such problem. He has ventured down the path of Ellen DeGeneres in more than just looking like he was controversially gay in the early ’90s: He’s got the short dye job and personalized Calvin Klein knock-offs to match.
Who would have thought a Barbie movie would already look so entertaining?
We’ll see whether director and co-writer Greta Gerwig can pull this off like Gosling can this jean vest when Barbie hits theaters next summer.
