With Halloween Kills hitting theaters and Peacock this weekend, when better to preview the other belated horror franchise revival sequel where the final girl has evolved into a stoic, gun-toting badass looking to kill the killer? So have a look at this first trailer for Scream.
Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette are back, now with Jenna Ortega—our new Wednesday Addams—not quite filling Drew Barrymore’s part as phone-based first kill. Don’t worry, though: there’s still a group of attractive, 20-something teens too. They all apparently have some connection to the original killings, and the latest person in a cheap Halloween costume is out to stab them all. Campbell’s Sidney “won’t sleep until [the killer’s] in the ground.” But it’s not like burying the stabber ever really worked before, so we’ll see how that goes.
Scream (2022) is set to hit theaters January 14.
