In the meantime, here’s the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 trailer

Like the maudlin remix of Spacehog’s “In the Meantime” in the background of its trailer, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 will likely be some overproduced take on mainstream garbage bin of forced emotion that’s quickly forgotten but also pretty enjoyable in the right context. Which is to say, we aren’t entirely opposed to liking it even if it’s sort of stupid. Anyway, here’s that trailer!

As much as the Guardians franchise has been a fairly high watermark for the MCU, it seems to be deeply in decline in its final outing. From lazy, commercial-level non-jokes like “seriously, dude?” to even lazier, desaturated green-screening (could no one get Chris Pratt to visit an actual American suburb anymore?), all of Marvel’s worst instincts are proudly trotted out in this two-minute preview. But, hey, there’s Will Poulter as a properly jaundiced Adam Warlock who even has sort of a classic-costume-accurate little skull on his chest, so that’s something, right?

It will have to at least be a better ensemble superhero effort than The Eternals when Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 hits theaters May 5.
