Robert De Niro headlines our latest “old guys doing shit” comedy, The War with Grandpa

The latest entertainment to cast Faizon Love as a grocery store guy is also the latest piece of crap movie where it’s just some old guys doing some dumb shit. Following in the likes of Stand Up Guys, Last Vegas, Going in Style, Just Getting Started, and King of Thieves, The War on Grandpa sees Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, and Cheech Marin as our latest trio of elderly men entertaining absolutely no one but other elderly men. De Niro stars as this old turd who, with his faculties declining, is forced to live with his daughter and her husband (Uma Thurman and Rob Riggle, respectively). He ends up taking their teenage son’s room, setting off the titular war.

In case anyone needs confirmation this latest Tim Hill-directed (Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, Hop, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever) effort is another pile of dogshit, it was shot in 2017 and has been sitting on the shelf ever since. That is arrives now, with a trailer proudly proclaiming it’s “only in theaters,” is a desperate Hail Mary heaved into the equally desperate masses.

Despite demanding to be on-demand, The War with Grandpa is heading to cinemas as a fake-out of a new, actual film—PG-rated redefined as an elder-care scenario—September 18.
