There goes Sony’s Valiant Comics cinematic universe

Sony has finally joined everyone else in not caring about a Valiant Comics cinematic universe.

Four years ago, the studio picked up the rights to Valiant’s Bloodshot and Harbinger titles, with plans to adapt two films from each before bringing them together in the crossover event Harbinger Wars. But according to a new story in The Hollywood Reporter, that’s not going to be possible anymore, because they just dumped the rights to Harbinger onto Paramount.

While director Justin Tipping and his script are reportedly still attached to Harbinger, Sony is likewise still planning to put out the Vin Diesel-led Bloodshot next February—once again putting the studio in the position of holding one key character out of reach of another studio’s comic book universe.

It’s sad news for anyone who was looking forward to seeing Harbinger Wars come together, but on the bright side: that was almost certainly going to be terrible anyway.
