The dividends of Into the Spider-Verse being a huge hit are paying off: The new animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie actually looks like something! See for yourself with the first teaser trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
The latest appearance of four grotesque, adolescent reptiles comes compliments of executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, with direction from a couple of the guys who helped make 2021’s The Mitchells vs. the Machines look pretty slick, too. Also noteworthy beyond the stylized visuals? The turtles actually sound like teenagers! The secret? Casting actual young people (Nicolas Cantu, Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., and Brady Noon). The Charlie Brown Christmas method succeeds again!
Rogen, John Cena, Jackie Chan, Ayo Edibiri, Hannibal Burress, Ice Cube, Rose Byrne, Paul Rudd, Post Malone, Maya Rudolph, Giancarlo Esposito, and Natasia Demetriou round out the supporting cast of what is easily the most exciting Ninja Turtles movie since 1990. Sure, it could use a Ya Kid K track, but what couldn’t?
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hits theaters August 4.
