‘Firestarter’ Remake Coming from Akiva Goldsman

Remarkably unremarkable screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has lined up his next directing project. Goldsman, who made his directing debut with the dismally received A Winter’s Tale, will reportedly helm Universal and Blumhouse’s long-gestating remake of Stephen King’s Firestarter. The new adaptation comes from Rectify staff writer Scott Teems. Like the original 1984 Drew Barrymore film, the story focuses on the world’s most adorably precocious arsonist. The project now joins the upcoming remake of King’s It in bringing us so very close to a photorealistic CGI Cujo.
