As any Dungeon Master who’s seen Hugh Grant’s villainous turn in Paddington 2 should have already thought of, the About a Boy star is going to be the big baddie of a Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
According to Deadline, Grant has signed on to play the main antagonist of Paramount and Hasbro’s Dungeons & Dragons. It‘s Sophia Lillis has also joined a cast that already includes Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Detective Pikachu‘s Justice Smith, and Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are writing and directing, but it’s not yet been revealed what their angle is here. Will it be a straightforward high fantasy effort? Some kind of meta thing that jumps between the real world and the imaginary? Or will we just be seeing Hugh Grant sitting behind a screen, doing little voices and excitedly rolling dice for an hour-and-a-half, because that honestly sounds like the most entertaining approach.
