Well, it looks like the old fashioned whodunit is back in earnest.
We’ve got a second Knives Out and a third instance of Kenneth Branagh putting on a fake mustache to come, and now we’ve got this—a 1950s murder mystery with Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan. It’s called See How They Run, and here’s the trailer.
The feature debut of Tom George, the comic thriller sees Rockwell and Ronan as, respectively, “world-weary Inspector Stoppard and eager rookie Constable Stalker.” They’re investigating a string of killings surrounding a Hollywood adaptation of a West End play that involves the likes of Adrien Brody, David Oyelowo, Ruth Wilson, Harris Dickinson, and more.
It’s no Columbo, but this heavily Grand Budapest Hotel-tinged romp looks like it could be charming enough. And it certainly couldn’t look any worse than this:
