The Terminal List is the actor’s perfect, most obvious next stage of Chris Pratt’s devolution. It’s straight-to-streaming, it sees Pratt as a humorless, highly-trained military badass, and here he finally joins Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, and Justin Timberlake in doing the “conservative, rural dad with unkempt beard and well-worn patriotic cap” bit. While his inexplicable casting as the voices of Mario and Garfield were completely left field, this makes almost too much sense. The least-interesting Chris has outdone himself here.
All that said, here’s the teaser trailer.
The Amazon series sees Pratt as a Navy SEAL whose entire platoon is ambushed and killed. When he gets back home to his scraggly beard and cap, he starts pondering, “You know, that was pretty weird, actually. I wonder if there was some shady government stuff going on there.”
Indeed there was, Chris Pratt, and it’s going to take all your “how to convincingly crouch around holding a gun” training from Jurassic World and The Tomorrow War to fight it.
Constance Wu, Taylor Kitsch, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Riley Keough, Jai Courtney, JD Pardo, and Pratt’s brother-in-law, Patrick Schwarzenegger, co-star. (Pratt is also an executive producer, naturally.)
The Terminal List hits Prime Video July 1.
