Once set to star in Uncharted, Mark Wahlberg is now its old guy

A “Sully” with a mustache who somehow isn’t the pilot

Telling of just how long the Uncharted movie has been stuck in development hell, Mark Wahlberg’s role in the video game adaptation has now changed from handsome star to old father figure.

Variety reports that Wahlberg—previously cast as lead Nathan Drake nearly a decade ago, back when David O. Russell was still for some reason directing—has been cast in role of Victor “Sully” Sullivan, a treasure hunter that serves as friend and mentor to the younger Drake. Tom Holland is set to headline in the latter role. Though, given that Holland signed on over a year-and-a-half ago, and since then has already gone through one director, don’t be surprised if he himself turns into our lithe new “Sully” by the 2028 iteration of this stupid film.
