One of the few big sitcoms of the ’90s not lined up for a reboot, Designing Women is, of course, being prepped for a reboot. According to TVLine, the relatively youthful Golden Girls of the South is joining the likes of Roseanne, Will & Grace, Full House, Alf, Murphy Brown, Mad About You, Frasier, and The Facts of Life, their corpses plucked from the purgatories of Nick at Nite and Netflix to live again. Creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason is reportedly overseeing the resurrection.
Debuting in 1986 and running seven seasons, Designing Women focused on a quartet of Georgia women and a wrongfully-imprisoned ex-con working in a small interior design firm. The original cast included Annie Potts, Delta Burke, Jean Smart, and the late Dixie Carter; it’s not yet known if any of the surviving stars will return. It’s also unclear whether next week will bring a reboot of Major Dad, Empty Nest, or Night Court, but you may as well figure on one of them right now.
