I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie is back with another tale of Sebastian Stan partnered up with one of the most iconic trashy blondes of the ’90s. Have a look with the trailer for his new Hulu miniseries, Pam & Tommy.
Lily James and Stan star as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, with Seth Rogen as the former porn actor who teamed up with fellow pornographer Milton Ingley (Nick Offerman) to sell the titular couple’s stolen sex tape. For as much as we decry the endless ’80s/’90s revivals (X-Men ’97 just recently joined a list that includes Roseanne, Will & Grace, Full House, Girl Meets World, Mad About You, Sex and the City, Murphy Brown, Punky Brewster, Frasier, The Facts of Life, Designing Women, Saved by the Bell, Head of the Class, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Doogie Howser, and Night Court), this is the sort of ’90s revival we can get into: one that revives not an intellectual property but the bygone era of when a couple porn guys could hawk a physical tape of a Baywatch babe and her latest rock-star-trash lover hooking up. Exploitative? Sure. Not great in that regard. But as a simpler time of watching some of the lowest class rich people you’ve ever seen have sex? Unmatched since. Nice try, Kim.
